Curry Bush
Helichrysum italicum.
Kooigoed. Seasonal. Mostly used as a home cuisine herb but has
decorative properties as well.
Perennial ornamental shrub with spiky, silver leaves and small
yellow flowers. Grows up to 60cm. Prune back after flowering to
prevent woodyness. Used for hedges and contrast.
Full sun, well drained soil, drought tolerant.
Parts used: leaves and flowers
Culinary uses: mild curry flavour at its best, flavours rice,
vegetables and savory dishes
Other uses: pot-pourri, dried arrangements, insect repellent. |
